Updates from Lee Ann

So, we're finally getting our act together with the blog. If you've been following along, I may have confused you a bit because I have been updating the posting dates to correlate with when the activities actually happened, rather than the date it was posted. As we go forward, I'll be adjusting the dates after posting to correlate with the date of the entry (So Grandma and Nana may have to look hard to make sure they didn't miss any posts!). I'm hoping to be close to caught up by mid-May or so. There will be a bunch of posts coming up this week and next.

We also have some maps posted. We are posting them for the first of the month but they should change as the month goes on to reflect the places we've been. This is still a work in progress, but we'll see how it goes.

I am also hoping, at some point, to start including some of my own thoughts about the trip, but one thing at a time, I guess! The wheels of progress move slowly.

Connecticut and Rhode Island - Andi

April 30, 2017
I climbed on every anchor I found
Yesterday we went to Mystic Seaport. First we saw a cargo handling presentation. They were taking barrels and boxes up. Then we saw the shipsmith. He was making a harpoon. A harpoon is something people back then used to kill whales. Then we went to the cooper. The cooper makes barrels but when we were there he wasn't. Then we went to go see the man overboard drill. It was where we put up two flags that meant we have a leakage and then we waited for the other boat to answer. Then once they answered with the flags we threw a noodle guy overboard and then we yelled man overboard. They saved him and then we saw a whale boat. Then they did the raise and lower the sails and we did the songs and the rope pulling. Then we did the navigation quest and I got post cards that had a face on them. Then for a farewell we listened to a couple songs. Then we went home and Nick and I played mini golf. Then I wrote a card to my friend. Then we had dinner. Then we watched a movie and had ice cream bars to celebrate the 100th day of the trip.

Today we went back to Mystic Seaport. We did the other navigation quest. We got a black bag for our prize. Then we made toy boats. Mine had a rudder downstairs, and a steering wheel. Then we went to the printing shop. I set my name upside down and backwords at Mystic Seaport, "Andi Lau." Then we got hot cocoa from the members desk. We saw the church. Then we saw the boats that they would catch fish from. It was called a dory. Planetarium was what we did next. It got darker and darker and then when I got out the light was blinding. Then we saw the hoop maker. Then we went home and wrote in our journals and had dinner.

Yesterday we woke up and decided to make the ladder up to my bunk. We went to the store and bought wood to make the ladder. We made the ladder and then Nick and I played games at the office. We came back and mom and dad were making it so we could put our shoes under the steps. We had dinner and then read Harry Potter. Then we slept in our hammocks outside but I went in because I didn't like it.

Yesterday we had breakfast. Then Daddy and Nick put the hinges on the stairs. That took up a lot of the day. Also my mom sewed my Barbie dress back together. Then Nick and I listened to music on our tablets. Then we watched "The Great Outdoors." We also had ice cream.
